Does the circles in a tree, really mean how old it is |
The circles are called growth rings and for most trees it is a good indication of how old the tree or branch might be. However, some trees grow in the spring and in the fall so you'll get two growth rings per year, and some trees grow only in the summer time so you'll get only one growth ring per year. If you know the name of the tree we can give you a better idea of whether the tree is as old as the number of growth rings or half the age of the number of growth rings you count. |
