The Q&A Archives: hosta

Question: my large leaf hosta are breaking at the base of heir leaves?????

Answer: If the leaves are heavy, rain can weigh them down far enough to break, or wind can cause them to break. There's an off-chance that a disease called crown rot might be affecting your hosta. In this case the stems of the leaves will rot, causing the leaf to break off. Inspect the stem for signs of rot or a mushy appearance to the tissue. Hope you figure out what's happening to your hosta!
