What is causing my pumpkin leaves to turn brown and dry? There is sufficient water and the plants are young yet. |
There are several reasons why this might happen, but three of the most common would be infestation by squash vine borers or squash bugs or bacterial wilt spread by cucumber beetles. Examine the plants very carefully. The borer bores into the vine itself and leaves a hole usually near the base of the plant; you will also find what looks like sawdust by the hole. The squash bug on the other hand attacks leaf by leaf, and leaves egg masses on the undersides of the leaves, between the angle of the veins. |
