I have a cat habitat outside. I wanted to plant a bush or small tree, native to SE GA and that thries in shade, the cats could climb but that was also nontoxic. Any suggestions?

Oakleaf hydrangea is my first thought, but while researching other possibilities I came across a list of 200 native shrubs compiled by the University of Georgia:

If you click on the name of the plant, you'll be given a complete description including size and shape. It's a terrific resource and I hope you find it helpful when choosing just the right plant for your landscape.
