| Top Gun is bred to be resistant to disease and it is a determinate tomato plant meaning it will grow to a certain height and then ripen all its fruit at one time. I think the problem is that you have two plants in a single small container. We recommend using 5 gallon containers for tomato plants. They have extensive root systems and need lots of room! If you want to chance it, you can move your plants to a larger container. I'd keep them together because no doubt the roots are intertwined and you'll risk losing one or both of them if you try to separate them. Use a 5-gallon bucket, drill lots of drainage holes in the bottom and a few lower down on the sides and then fill it partway with moistened potting soil. Get some help for this next step - lay the old container on its side and gently pull the plants out, keeping the rootmass as undisturbed as possible. Set them into the larger container, adding more potting soil around the sides and tamping it in. When it's repotted, water thoroughly to help settle the soil. With a little more root room your plants may flower and develop lots more fruit than they have now. Good luck with your tomato plants! |
