| I have a couple of old peach trees in my back yard. The leaves curl up what causes this and can it be prevented? My next question is I have 3 small trees planted in the back yard, when can I transplant them and how do I do so so I do not kill them? |
| It sounds as though your trees are suffering from peach leaf curl. Unfortunately this can only be treated by beginning very early in the season, sometimes as early as late winter. The spray timings and frequencies are somewhat dependent on local conditions as well as the weather in a particular year, so you might wish to contact your County Extension agent for the recommended spray schedule and care for your peach trees. Your local office can be reached at 340-2900. In general the best time to transplant trees is when they are dormant and while they are quite young. However, the optimum timing and procedures sometimes depend on which type of tree is being moved.
