The Q&A Archives: Iris

Question: I got some Iris bulbs from a friend. they have roots and the bulb. I would like to know, when to plant them? would they bloom in fall or spring?

thanks, fran

Answer: Plant your iris now. They will bloom in the spring. Plant the rhizomes just barely below the soil surface and water them in well. They will spend the rest of the summer establishing themselves and they should grow and flower for you next spring. Enjoy!
