my sago palm came up nice and green then very quickly turned brown. Now it has one leaf green and the rest are all brown as if it were dead.

It doesn't sound good for your sago. The hopeful note is that it developed a green leaf. That might mean that the roots are okay. Cut off the brown fronds and just keep your sago watered on a regular basis. If the roots are okay, you'll get new leaves on your plant. Hope it's soon!
