Most fruit trees will grow in native soil. The important thing is to water your trees deeply to encourage deep roots. You can check with your local cooperative extension office for best fruit tree varieties to grow in your area. Sometimes you can find Master Gardeners or Fruit Club enthusiasts who will share rootstock and scion wood if you'd like to build your own trees. Best wishes with your new orchard.
