What is, and how do I grow Japanese eggplant in eastern North Carolina? What type of soil is best and what diseases are apt to be a problem? |
Burpee carries an Oriental eggplant called 'Millionaire'. It differs from other eggplant in that it grows long, slender fruits, rather than the traditional oval shaped fruits. Eggplant needs a long, warm season to mature and grows best in a well-draining, fertile soil. Prepare your garden bed by incorporating some compost, aged-manure, or leaf mold. Then plant your seeds as soon as the soil warms up in the spring to provide a long, warm season for the plants to develop and mature fruits. |
