Hi. We have a garden with various perennials and have noticed that over the last few months we are overrun with spiders. Small white ones and small jumping ones - they are everywhere! Are they more than just a nuisance and should we try to get rid of them? Or are they somehow (yuck) beneficial? Thank you! |
The white spiders are sometimes called crab spiders and they hide in open flowers hoping to attack insects that visit the flowers. I tend to leave them alone (which helps in the balance of nature). They can be considered simply a nuisance. Some years there are larger populations than others - this must be your year to have a high population of these spiders. |
