Hi. We have a garden with various perennials and have noticed that over the last few months we are overrun with spiders. Small white ones and small jumping ones - they are everywhere! Are they more than just a nuisance and should we try to get rid of them? Or are they somehow (yuck) beneficial?

Thank you!

The white spiders are sometimes called crab spiders and they hide in open flowers hoping to attack insects that visit the flowers. I tend to leave them alone (which helps in the balance of nature). They can be considered simply a nuisance. Some years there are larger populations than others - this must be your year to have a high population of these spiders.
