| You can spread organic matter around your plants and on the bare soil within the bed. A 2-3 inch layer is deep enough to help suppress weeds and slow water evaporation. At the end of the gardening season you can dig the organic matter into the soil and replace it with fresh new mulch material. Hope this clarifies things for you. |
