My hydrangea bloomed heavily last year but didn't bloom this year. |
Hydrangea shrubs bloom on stems that grew the previous year. You should cut back the stems after flowering to encourage more stems to grow and produce blossoms for the following year. If you didn't cut back the stems, the plant may not have produced new stems. On the other hand, if you pruned heavily, you may have pruned out the flower buds for this year's blossoms. Cut your plant back to encourage new growth and it should bloom for you next year. |
