I am trying to grow water melon, on the seed package it says full sun. Is that true here? also, any watering tips? |
You can successfully grow watermelons in Gilbert but the timing has to be just right. They will take full sunshine if you plant them in mid-August so they have a chance to develop before winter weather, or if you plant them in February so they can mature before June. The standard summer planting time (April or May) will mean the plants will grow during the hottest months of the year and if this is the case, provide full morning sun and then shade from hot afternoon sunshine. Good luck with your melons! |
