I have been trying to get a shade garden going in my backyard, but the slugs keep eating the plants. It's an area about 50'x20' and stays moist because of the shade. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the slugs? Over the past few years I've tried the beer in tuna cans, which collects so many the cans are full in 2 days, but there are more than this method can handle. HELP!!

If you have a huge population of slugs it might take a while to control them all, but you can if you keep after them. Trapping works, but so does the iron based bait called Sluggo. Sprinkled around your plants, this product kills the slugs and any that is not consumed breaks down into simple iron which is absorbed into the soil. Sluggo is harmless to people, pets and wildlife. Good luck with your shade garden!
