I'm growing coneflowers this summer and would like to dry them for Echinacea tea at the end of the season. What part of the plant do I dry (the petals? seeds?) and how do I do it?

If you intend to use Echinacea for herbal healing purposes, the roots of the plant contain the medicinal properties. Wait until the plant has endured several hard frosts and begins to die back. Dig the root, clean and dry it. To make an infusion use one ounce dried herb to one pint water and simmer gently for 30-60 minutes.
