We bought a home with a large Bradford Pear. One morning we awoke and the largest limb cracked and fell on our patio. We are now trimming it to prevent more breakage. However, is there the best way to tree this tree?

How sad to lose a large limb from your tree! Once you've trimmed the tree back so the limbs are not so heavy, you shouldn't have any more breakage. Try to make it look as symmetric as possible. New growth should cover the pruning cuts. Best wishes with your tree!
