If your rubber tree plant has been growing indoors and you set it out in direct sunshine, that would explain why the leaves fell off - the sun was just too intense! Rubber trees are particular about where they grow. They don't like hot or cold temperatures, drafts, or even direct sunshine. It is possible your rubber tree will replace the lost leaves. Let's hope for the best!
