Daily watering is probably a contributing factor to the death of your bottlebrush. Your soil is clay, which holds lots of moisture. Too much moisture can drive out oxygen, which plant roots need. Instead of watering daily, try watering deeply once or twice a week. Bottlebrush are drought tolerant once established and can get along with very little moisture. Try again, and water carefully. I think your next bottlebrushes will survive. Hope so!
