Hi. I was wondering what kind of flower this is. I was taking a walk and saw it and I was curious so I took a picture of it. Any information on it would be great too. http://kulmer.angelfire.com/ph... |
The photo is an orange Cosmos. The botanical name Cosmos sulphureus. This plant is an annual so it lives just one growing season but it grows quickly and blooms heavily. It freely self-sows which means you can have new plants the following spring in the same garden spot. It grows up to 3' tall and blooms from mid to late summer. It needs full sunshine and will grow in average to dry soils. It is native to desert areas but is grown as an annual in all parts of the country. Cosmos come in lots of colors, including white, pink, purple, and orange. |
