Question: Reddish green clump of tall grass with plumes. Is this a perennal, if so, would I trim this back and when.

Answer: Pennisetum setaceum rubrum 'Fireworks' is Variegated Purple Fountain Grass. It is not frost hardy so should be considered an annual in your gardening region (7B). In gardening zones 9-11 it is a perennial.
