| My rosemary plants have soapy white stuff on some of the branches that are very small and can be washed off with the hose. What is this soapy stuff caused by? |
| The foamy masses sound to me like spittle bugs. These tiny little pests produce a frothy substance to protect themselves from the sunshine and from predators. In large numbers they can damage the plant but you can easily discourage them by hosing them off with a strong stream of water from the hose. Or you can squish them between your thumb and forefinger. I just hose them off! |
