I just perchased two crepe myrtles,both are not doing so hot,come to find out after i planted them it was to hot to plant them now i noticed after trimming some dead flowers its got japanese beatles on the branches and the other had them in the soil near the roots.what to do and will they bloom again this year,or will they die? help my once beautiful trees are not so beautiful. Sounds like a combination of transplant stress and excessive heat. The beetles are attacking because your trees are stressed. For some reason insects seem to know when plants are stressed. The best thing you can do for your trees is to keep them watered well. One deep soaking per week is all they should need. I'd try to hose off the insects to discourage them from munching on the trees. Or you can use a neem oil spray (according to label directions). I think once the roots of your new trees become established that the trees will perk up. I hope that's soon!
