After spring flowering, do I deadhead or let the buds drop off naturally? Any special pre-winter care?

I think rhododendrons look neater if the spent flowers are removed. You can simply snap off the trusses, or you can carefully prune them off. Rhododendrons develop flower buds over the summer months for the following year's floral display and they can be damaged so work around them as you remove the old spent flowers. Aside from regular watering, nothing special needs to be done for your rhodie. It should come through the winter without problem. Enjoy!
