Answer: How frustrating! Especially since marigolds are plants we recommend for small children because they are so easy to grow! Both marigolds and geraniums like sunshine and grow best when it's warm. They should grow and bloom without problem in a sunny spot, in moist but well draining potting soil in a container with adequate drainage holes. I'd try again. You can still purchase geranium transplants in the garden center and marigold seeds in the seed rack. Sow the seeds on top of the soil and keep them moist for fastest germination. Good luck with your new plants!
