I saw this tree in Forked River, NJ for sale, it looks wonderful. I did not think it could survive NJ climate, I am between (hoping) and the crepe myrtle. My soil is sandy, can I it survive and thrive? TY |
Magnolia 'Butterflies' is a cross of M. acuminata and M. denudata and usually forms a small tree with an upright central leader but is sometimes a multi-stemmed shrub. It has yellow cup to star-shaped flowers (3 to 4 inches across) that are fragrant and appear before the leaves in early to mid-spring. It is rated hardy in Zones 4-8 and your zip code places you in Zone: 6B so I think the magnolia will perform well in your garden. Enjoy! |
