| We planted a forsythia bush as well as dogwood, pussy willow, and spirea in a clay bed (in Colorado Springs). We mixed clay-buster and soil additive to break up the clay. Only the forsythia dried up even though it has enough, but not too much, water. Any suggestions as we want to replace it with the same? |
| Forsythia is usually adaptable to most soils and has a reputation for thriving in heavy clay soils so you may simply have gotten a plant with a puny root system. I'd replace it with a healthy new forsythia and plant it in late summer or early fall when the weather is cooler but it will still have time to establish before cold weather sets in. |
