My back yard looks like this http://www.p11k.com/users/phot... Plenty of sunshine, well-drained soil. I don't want to see the plant hanging too long to hinder people walking under. Prefer to have flowers/produces but not too much dropping after season.

Bignonia capreolata 'Tangerine Beauty' is a fast growing evergreen vine that blooms over a very long season, and is fully hardy in most all of California. Other plants to consider = Carolina Jessamine, Clematis, Honeysuckle, California Wild Grape,
Bower Vine (easy and fast growing) or Lady Bank's climbing rose.
