I've moved into a home and the landscape needs some work. There are hedges around the front of the house & the mulch has deteriorated and weeds & crab grass have grown in. I would like to put down Scotts red mulch but I an not sure what steps to take for proper installment and to avoid weeds growing back in the area. |
A thick mulch will usually suppress weeds, but you'll need to rake out the old mulch and pull or dig the weeds out before installing new mulch material. You can add a little insurance by putting weed barrier fabric down on the area before spreading the new mulch. This will keep weeds from popping through for many years to come. Best wishes with your landscape! |
