In planting instructions it says refill hole with half soil amendment and half native soil. What is soil amendment?

Soil amendment can be compost, peat moss, potting soil, shredded leaves, or any organic matter that you can mix into the garden soil to help it drain well yet hold moisture for the roots of your ti plant.
