Spirea vanhouttei bushes flower on one-year-old wood, so they are pruned just after flowering in early summer. This pruning will encourage new growth that will flower the following year. You can cut the old shoots to ground level or just above an outward-facing bud. Also remove any dead or damaged branches. Best wishes with your landscape!
