The Q&A Archives: Crepe Myrtle

Question: We live in the hill country of Texas. What is the proper time to cut back our crepe myrtles?

Answer: Crepe myrtles develop flowers on the new growth of the season. Prune them back in the spring just as new growth begins. After they have finished flowering you can prune them back again and they should bloom again for you later in the season. Enjoy!
