Question: Hi! I'm interested in planting some evergreen trees and some hostas in my yard. Is is too late in the year to do this in the Chicago area? If so, what time would be the ideal time to plant tress/shrubs in the Chicago area? Thanks in advance :)
Answer: I don't think it is too late to plant. If you plant now the trees and hostas will have plenty of time to establish their root systems before cold weather arrive. I'd plant now. Enjoy!
