| I've had a terrible problem with bugs eating all things in my flower boxes except the ivy. I'm thinking of replacing the soil for the Astors I'll be purchasing from you and would like to know if you recommend continued usage of the ivy that was in the old soil. Thanks very much, Valerie Shaver |
| It sounds like the ivy is unscathed by the insects so replanting it in fresh potting soil along with your asters will be just fine. To make sure the ivy is not harboring insects or insect eggs, you will want to hose it off well before replanting, or just pop the whole plant into a bucket of water as you clean and refill the planter boxes. The water should rinse off any insects and drown any eggs. Best wishes with your new flower boxes! |
