The Q&A Archives: Lily bulbs

Question: Can you divide 3 yr. old Lily bulbs? If weed killer is applied on ground where these bulbs are, will the bulbs be damaged?

Answer: You can dig and divide a 3 year old lily. Weed killers, if they translocate into the soil, can damage lilies. Some weed killers are contact killers and others remain in the soil for long periods of time. The answer to your question depends upon what weed killer you are using. The label will have details on which plants you can use the weed killer near and which you should avoid. Good luck with your lilies!
