There's a fuzzy little white bug that attaches itself via a fuzzy little white web that seems to want to suck the juice out my Japanese anemone stems, which are about 4' high. Are these also the culprits that are making the leaves look like swiss cheese? |
I suspect the little white bugs are mealybugs. They can be knocked off with a strong spray of the hose or with insecticidal soap used according to the label instructions. They will not chew big holes in the leaves because all they do is suck sap. I think the holes are probably Japanese beetle damage. My own Japanese anemones have the same damage every year and it has never really harmed them apart from looking awful. |
