I have two lavender crape mertles that I planted earlier in the spring. Both seemed to have rooted well however one is starting to develop sticky yellow leaves. I noticed a number of tiny white insects and used 7 dust to treat. We have had an unusual ammount of rain in central Oklahoma this month as well. What might be causing the yellowing sticky leaves or is it one of the above?

Aphids are probably feeding on the leaves of your plants. When they feed they exude a sticky substance called honeydew. I'd control the pests with applications of insecticidal soap. Best wishes with your crape myrtles!
