The Q&A Archives: bare lawn

Question: I have bare spots all over my lawn and would like to know what seed can I use. I have St. Augustine grass. I live in Florida.

Answer: St. Augustine grass seed is not currently available so the best way to fill in those bare spots is with sprigs of St. Augustine. You can purchase sprigs or you can take plugs (grass and roots) from your existing lawn and plant them in the bare areas. Eventually the holes from the plugs will fill in and the bare spots will fill in, as well.
