The Q&A Archives: Black leaves on an umbrella plant

Question: Several leaves from my umbrella plant have turned black and fallen off. What am I doing to kill it?

Answer: Leaves turn black and drop if the soil is too wet so that might be the problem. Your plant likes consistently moist soil but it needs to drain well and the top half inch of soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings. Try watering a little less often. Good luck with your plant!
