On summer squash, should the male flowers (the ones on the long thin stems) that are not producing the vegetable, be removed? |
You can remove the male blossoms if you like, but they'll wither and die on their own after a few days. Rather than risk poor pollination, why not wait until they begin to wilt before you remove them? That way the visiting insects will have had a chance to transfer pollen from the male to the female flowers. |
