| I think you will need to do a little experimenting to see what will grow well for you. Most flowering and fruiting vegetables need at least 8 hours of direct sunshine each day. Although the atrium area gets light, it might be diffused light from a skylight, which is not the same as direct sunshine. If it is direct sunlight coming through a glass window, that can also be problematic because the glass can intensify the light and actually burn plant leaves. I'd start with some of the more shade tolerant veggies to see how they do. Leaf lettuces, cabbages, radishes - anything that does not flower. You might also try peas and beans. They are more tolerant of less intense light. If they do well you might try a short-season variety of tomatoes. I hope your atrium works well as a vegetable plot! |
