| I have a varigated yucca. It bloomed beautifully but now has ugly stalks where the blooms were and I was wondering if I could remove them or will the seeds fall and create new plants? Thank You! Shirley |
| As soon as the flowers fade, cut the flowering stalks down below the foliage level (as close as possible to where it emerges). Your plant will produce a new flowering stalk after it has rested and stored additional energy in its root system. You can collect the seeds and plant them but I would not allow them to fall from the plant into the soil near your yucca or you will end up with a mass of different sized plants that will be difficult to control or to keep looking neat and tidy. Just cut down the spent flower stalks and your yucca will produce new ones. Enjoy! |
