| How far down the stem can I cut basil for drying and yet allow the plants to continue to grow for another harvest? Also, some of my younger basil plants just shrivel up and die; what could be the reason? |
| You should leave one or two pairs of leaves on the basil stem when you cut the herb back. New stems will sprout from the nodes where the leaves are attached. If your baby basil plants are wilting, it could be they're getting too much or too little water. Little plants have little root systems that are very sensitive to lack of water or lack of air. When you water, water deeply, and then let the soil dry out on top before you water again. |
