I have a bed of everbearing strawberries. They are on a drip system and have provided a splendid crop this year and production is starting to drop off. Should I fertilize strawberries at all, and if so when and with what? |
Your strawberry bed should continue to produce berries until late August. Plants should be fertilized twice a year; once in the spring when growth begins and again in mid-August when strawberry blossom buds are starting to develop inside the crown for next summer's crop. Use an all-purpose 5-10-10 or 6-12-12 fertilizer (3 cups of dry fertilizer per 100 square feet of area). Be sure to brush off any fertilizer particles that fall on the leaves, and then water the fertilizer in well. |
