With fall approaching I'm looking at scraggly shrubs I didn't get around to pruning this summer. Is it too late to shape my boxwoods by trimming at least 3-4 inches off(they're well established and against a NE garage wall). A pyramidal-shaped cypress needs to be shaped also. It faces SW and is near the house.

It usually takes new growth about 6 weeks to harden off. If you prune your shrubs back now they should have time to develop new growth and harden off before the heavy frosts arrive. I'd go ahead and prune them now. Best wishes with your shrubs.
