Answer: High temperatures can cause cukes to turn yellow, but so can overwatering and lack of soil fertility. We recommend you mix organic matter into your soil before planting and add some organic mulch once your plants are up and growing. As these organic materials decompose they release nutrients to the roots of the plants. Cucumber plants will need about one inch of water per week. When you apply water, soak the area thoroughly to make sure the entire root mass gets wet, then wait until the top inch or so of soil dries out before applying water again. Since the cukes are misshapen, they may be stressed from heat or watering practices or lack of nutrients. Try feeding them with a 10-20-20 fertilizer to see if that doesn't help the cukes develop into edible fruits.
