When should i put chemicals down for crabgrass. Is it the same thing for weed control; or do I put something down different. |
Very early spring (March or April) is the best time to control weeds. Apply a pre-emergent when flowering trees and shrubs in your yard begin to flower and you'll keep weed seeds from germinating. Reapply in 30 days and you should have summer long control of weeds. At this point you can use a weed and feed to take care of broadleaf weeds but it won't control the crabgrass. Luckily crabgrass is an annual and will die out when the weather turns cold, but it will leave hundreds of seeds in its wake so be sure to use a pre emergent next spring to keep those seeds from sprouting! |
