I live in the Temecula Ca. area and have to do some serious reseeding on my back lawn. Two questions:
1. When is the best time
2. What kind of seed should I use?
Thank You

The type of seed you will use depends upon the type(s) of turfgrass you are already growing. If you're not sure, you can take a sample of the turf to your local cooperative extension office for help in identification if you want to match the existing lawn. If it doesn't matter, just choose a grass seed blend for sunny (or shady) sites - whichever applies to your landscape. Either fall or spring are both good times to overseed. In your desert area most gardeners grow bermuda overseeded with perennial rye. The bermuda will green up in April and remain green until the weather cools in October. If you overseed bermuda with perennial rye in September it will green up just as the bermuda starts to go dormant. The ryegrass will remain green until the weather warms up and it will go dormant - at about the same time the bermuda greens up.

Best wishes with your lawn.
