You can grow both raspberries and blackberries in your region and will have the best production from cultivars developed especially for your area. The University of Kentucky has a publication about growing blackberries which includes site selection, soil preparation and best varieties: http://www.ca.uky.edu/agc/pubs...

Hope you find this information helpful. Good luck with your blackberries!
