Have lots of Mossy Oak trees, some have been taken up and the root undergirth is sprouting more trees. How do we get rid of the trees? Want to root rake the yard and grow grass, will the root raking disturb the roots of all the other trees? Live in South GA and the yard is white sand.

What you describe sounds like suckers from the roots and perhaps acorns are sprouting, as well. It should not hurt your mature trees to cut off the suckers and rake out the saplings that have sprouted from the acorns. Of course you'll have to continue to do this, even if you plant lawn or groundcover. The lawn or groundcover will not stop future suckers from emerging. It's just the nature of the trees to send up suckers. Perhaps your local cooperative extension will have other advice so you may want to contact them.
